I’ve got an amazing business idea, and have already started to develop this into a product. I saw my bank the other idea to try to get a loan to get a business started and they helped me put together a business plan, which was great. Out of that, I discovered that I needed quite a bit more up-front investment than I thought to get a factory tooled up to produce my widget. Any ideas on where best to go for this?

Well, one option is to look at getting some VC (venture capital) funding, but this will really depend on the sort of product you are developing. I’m in the software industry, and there are quite a few investment outfits that can potentially help out there, but not sure about your industry. One option is to try newinventionfunding.com.au to see what they say?

Have you thought about some of the great state and federal government programs for start-ups? NEIS is pretty good, and you can get information from their site at http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplace/Programmes/NEIS/
